A conclusion is vital for providing closure to your writing may it be IELTS Writing Task2. A conclusion is more than a summary of what has already been said. It is the best way to remind your reader(s) of the strength of your main arguments. It offers the best way to make a positive final impression.

Strategies for writing a good conclusion

Let’s look out at some useful strategies to make your conclusion more effective and relevant.

• Return to the theme in the introduction.

When you are making your essay more complete and cohesive, referring to the introductory paragraph in your conclusion is a good way to accomplish it. You may take it as bringing your reader to a full circle. In order to achieve this, you may go for keywords or concepts that are mentioned in the introduction.

• Include a brief summary of the essay’s main points.

Beware of summarizing your main arguments in your conclusion in a proper manner. In place of repeating things, ensure to show the examiner in what way the points you made and the examples you used fit together.

• Vary your language.

Try to vary your language while restating your main points in your conclusion. Don’t  try to repeat the same words again and again. Try to make use of your paraphrasing in order to show the examiner a wider range of vocabulary.

• Give your opinion.

Try to get to your conclusion when you have not given your opinion by the time.  Try to include it in your closing paragraph.

• Do NOT introduce a new idea.

Try to avoid introducing new points when are wrapping up your main points with your conclusion. If you are going to reflect a new idea into a closing paragraph, let it have its own paragraph in the body of your essay, or leave it out completely.
