Cook at home/look out for healthy foods
After all you’re living away from home for the first time in your life and without your parents around. You need to go on for healthy diet. You can’t rely to live on junk food. Here are some general tips for having good food habits in your diet:-
Limit how much you eat out (your wallet and waistline will thank you)
If you’re on a meal plan, seek out fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and other unprocessed foods.
If you have a proper kitchen, learn some basic dishes and cook at home as often as you can. In this way, you can keep up to your success even for your future prospects ahead.
As per the Department of Health and Human Services, 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity and two sessions of strength training per week are enough to keep you healthy and happy. Doing workout helps you to burn more calories. There are a number of other physical benefits, including improved bone density, heart health, and even brain function.
Get enough sleep
It’s recommended for students to get 6-8 hours of sleep per night as a part of a healthy lifestyle. Between attending classes, part-time jobs, studying, and having an active social life, getting a solid eight hours can feel next to impossible. But you must be required to have sufficient sleep. Having sleep over a long period of time can have few nasty side effects- memory loss, depression and of course, weight gain.
Drink sufficient water
When you keep your body hydrated, it helps your body process calories and not getting enough slows down your metabolism. Drinking sufficient water helps to avoid overeating and feel fuller.
Here are a few tips that you can incorporate in your daily routine:-
Ø Bring a reusable water bottle with you to class
Ø Use an app like Daily Water to track your cups
Ø Drink a full glass before every meal (helps with metabolism!)
Ø Eat water-rich foods such as cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, and grapefruit
Practice moderation (But also eat slower)
It takes about 20 minutes for your brain and stomach to realize you’re full. When you are taking your time while eating food, you are having less probability to go looking for more food right after your meal. You are to consume fewer calories and more water if you take your time.
Don’t avoid breakfast
Eating a balanced breakfast has a number of benefits, including jumpstarting your metabolism, which helps burn more calories for the rest of the day. It’s very easy to avoid eating breakfast when you are running late for a morning class
Consult health and wellness center
